| Fort Vale is delighted to announce that it has been conferred The Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade 2008 for outstanding export achievement. The company has demonstrated a 99% growth in exports over the last six years. This is the third time that Fort Vale have been bestowed this corporate accolade, having previously been awarded in 1981 and 1986. | |
| The company, which celebrated its 40th anniversary last year, is recognised as a world leader in the manufacture of valves, manways and ancillaries for the international transport and storage of bulk liquids, gases and powders. It exports around 85% of its products, mainly to China, Europe, U.S.A. and South Africa. The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the U.K.’s most prestigious awards for business performance. Competition is fierce and the award criteria are difficult to satisfy. Ian Wilson, Managing Director commented : “We are very pleased to receive this prestigious award. Trading conditions have become considerably tougher in recent years with unprecedented increases in the price of raw materials and energy costs. Furthermore, the significant shifts in the major world currencies have brought about complexities in the commercial aspects of our business. The company focuses on maintaining strong long-term relationships with our customers. Our in-house employee training programs and extensive capital expenditure program have helped us to keep ahead of our competition. We plan to continue in the strategic direction of continuous improvement in all areas of our operations. Fort Vale is in the final stages of a move to a new purpose-built manufacturing facility and office accommodation. In moving we are adopting some of the latest manufacturing philosophies which will bring further efficiencies and help us maintain our position as world leader in our market. The move represents the culmination of a three-year programme of expansion, including the establishment of operations in Shanghai and Singapore, and new premises for our sales and service centres in Holland, the U.S.A. and Russia.” The company plans to host a grand opening of the new U.K. head office and manufacturing facility later in the year. |
